"Luther and the devil", sketch for future project, 2011
"faith and the word"
According to Luther we seek redemption in the holy write. “Christianity reconsidered” queries the assumption that “the Word” can save us.
In “Ascension” the monk “goes to heaven” on a piece of paper from the holy bible. "The word" from the bible saves him, but can we really take this serious?
In “Luther and the devil” Luther throws the inkpot after the bat (symbolizing the devil) but the bat consists of papier mache made of the bible itself. Is Luther fighting his own discourse? Aren´t we always seduced of our own linguistic cognition?
