tradition and "the new"
What is the connection between the tradition and genuine art?
Arnold Böcklin´s famous picture "The isle of the dead" represents the tradition, of course. But it is populated wtih my own genuine, artistic constructions - strange hybrids between fishes and human beings, hwo try to esacpe the island in flying machines.
Is the artist able to transcend tradition? Or is the gravity of the island too strong for him to "fly away"?
